Nutrition & Preventive Health Student Interest Group (NPHSIG)

Sponsored by the Department of Family Medicine

NPHSIG - CU SOM - Nutrition & Preventive Health Student Interest GroupThe Nutrition and Preventive Health Student Interest Group (NPHSIG) is a multi-disciplinary student interest group for those interested in learning more about physical activity, nutrition, behavior change, and other topics related to preventive health.

It is run by a student volunteer steering committee. This committee is responsible for planning all events with the support of personnel in the Department of Family Medicine Student Affairs Office. An important activity of the NPHSIG is the monthly lecture. These lectures are noon-time talks open to the campus on various topics related to Nutrition and Preventive Health.

NPHSIG - Students Meeting

What We Do

We organize lunch lectures and workshops by faculty that specifically improve students skills and knowledge in topics related to nutrition and preventative health.

Our Purpose

  • To promote the recognition of healthy living habits and emphasize their importance
  • Encourage overall physical, mental, and emotional well being of students through positive practices
  • Empower students with knowledge they may share with the communities they will serve as health care providers.

Time Commitment

We spend one hour a month meeting as a steering committee.  Each member then spends approximately 2-5 hours organizing a lunch lecture and/or workshop and represents the group at that event.

Why Participate?

Being part of the steering committee is an excellent opportunity to get involved on campus, to bring new topics to students, and to interact with other disciplines to promote general healthy eating, and lifestyles!
