Family Medicine Student Interest Group (FMIG)
Sponsored by the Department of Family Medicine
The Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) is comprised of medical students interested or thinking about pursuing a career in Family Medicine. It is run by a student volunteer steering committee. This committee is responsible for planning all events with the support of personnel in the Family Medicine Medical Student Education office, including Steven Cruse, Program Coordinator and Dr. David Gaspar, FMIG Advisor.
An important activity of the FMIG is the monthly Family Medicine lectures. These are noon-time talks open to the campus on various topics related to Family Medicine and Primary Care. Other activities sponsored by the FMIG are workshops on IVs, immunizations, casting and suturing.
